Processors -- Which are faster?

which one of this are faster:

Intel® Core? 2 Duo Processor E6750 (2.66GHz) / E6850 (3.0GHz), 4MB L2 Cache, 1333FSB, Socket 775

Intel® Core? 2 Duo Processor E8400 (3.0GHz), 6MB L2 Cache, 1066FSB, Socket 775

Intel® Core? 2 Quad Processor Q9450 (2.66GHz), 12MB L2 Cache, 1333FSB, Socket 775

Intel® Core? 2 Extreme Processor X6800 (2.93GHz), 4MB L2 Cache, 1066FSB, Socket 775

Its pretty obvious the Q9450 is the fastest.

However single or dual threaded only programs would run a little faster on the higher clocked dual cores. The extreme also has an unlocked multiplier as well probably. (for OCing)

Of course that quad can probably overclock to 3.5 GHz anyway.

You should go with the quad core if your computer supports it.

k, thanks. so what's the difference between the quad cores and the extreme other than two more cores, or is that it?

That's the difference, but it's a big one. The extreme is only two cores.

That extreme is also an older model with a lower cache and FSB compared to the other dual cores and the quad core.

The E8400 would beat it if neither was OCed due to the higher cache.

The extreme may also have slightly better Overclockability.
