Guest Estate
Just got my MBP couple of weeks ago and lately installed 32bit XP on bootcamp.. I've been doing a lot of searching and got all kinds of answers about drivers for this card.. It has never been as complicated for ATi cards I've used before but can someone PLEASE tell me.. 1) Which driver from laptopvideo2go.com is the absolute best for gaming? (I'm playing warhammer online at the moment) 2) Are drivers different for DDR2 and DDR3 versions of this card? (e.g. my version is supposed to be 512mb and I found out they made 256mb versions as well) thanks very much any tips/help would be appreciated! wulfe
DDR2 and DDR3 versions of 8600M GT have the same drivers... so far the best performing drivers are the new ones, 179.13 and 178.13 as reported by users here... you could try both and benchmark for yourself goodluck :)
wook
take a look here. http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....5&hl=8700gt driver comparision. depending on what shader your game runs. but basically its 179.
Covert
179.13. Have fun. Also the advantage Nvidia has over ATi is that we get drivers more frequently, which gets allot more out of your card than ATi does.
wook
mmm.. a good marketing ploy by Nvidia. releasing drivers regularly to give its coustomers hope that the next release will be better. Usually not the case. one release per month that makes significant changes would suit me better.
