High CPU usage in World of Warcraft

My laptop is an ASUS G50Vm-X1, with 4 gb RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.0Ghz originally running Vista Home Premium 64bit. I've downgraded to XP due to the high resource demands of Vista. I downloaded the most recent drivers for XP Pro 32bit from the main page and got the video card installed (GeForce 9700M GT) and am able to play the game and the CPU usage is normal. After playing for a bit, suddenly the game gets choppy. I check Task Manager and the CPU is at 90 - 100% usage. If I alt-esc and wait a couple minutes, the CPU usage goes back to normal. A friend said that it may be video driver related? Anyone run into this? Any suggestion as to what version driver I should try?

Thanks.

Well if I am not mistaken we have the same video card and World of Warcraft defiantly doesn't lag to me at any supper duper high setting. Try uninstalling your drivers booting into safe mode and running driver sweeper BTW download the latest drivers for your machine. XP SP3 32 bit has some great drivers by alienware on the front page.

Yes this game should not give any problems. You should try the drivers prescribed above or the 177.92 drivers.
