Robin4
Does anybody having a datasheet from the alienware notebooks M5550 / m5750? What to know what are the max specs from the motherboards... Is it correct if you want to put 4GB memory in that notebook, thats reading 3GB Max Limit in windows?
Guest Guest
The limit is always 3GB in windows unless you're running 64bit. But I doubt that.
Robin4
So the max is exactly 3GB? I red i because of chipset limitation. So if i install windows 64 its still 3GB. Have people maybe tried to run windows 7 on these notebook, perhaps on FJS Amilo PI 1536? Does de PM945 chipset has 64-bit limitation? http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....showtopic=17165 Edited July 5, 2009 by Robin4
Guest Guest_Meins321_*
I've read that the PM45 has a design flaw from intel that's why it was hard to get 4GB running and Alienware patched i a way that it booted up with 4GB but the rest is on windows after boot. Maybe that's why FSC never did it to its Amilo pi 1546? But why are you asking? If your on a working mxm GPU then there shouldn't be a Problem? Just use 2.07W Bios and only Windows Limits your RAM and don't try 4GB per Stick as the DON'T work (i ve tested that and yes there are some very expensive 4GB so dimms).
