Hi Pieter,

I tried 56.55 with ing 20.03 as is, with SoftEDIDs set to 0 or to 1 and still have the problem with the driver thinking my max res is 1372x1050 instead of 1400x1050 which leaves a black bar on the right side of the screen. I was hoping the new build would fix it.

Satellite 5105 S501, GeForce4 440GO - 32 MB.

Oh well.......

Craig,

There is still hope with 56.54 a proper mobile driver. (a small hope)

All I need is the driver, I have the INFs to go with quite a few Manufacturers. (including Toshiba)

So as soon as 56.54 comes out I'll release the proper INfs as well.

Pieter.

Guys and Gals,

Attached is a ZIP file with all the INFs for laptops that 56.54 was made for.

56.54 INF should work with 56.55 as they are very similar.

If you experience problems with your laptop try the following, if not don't fix what ain't broke!!

To install on your laptop, have a look at the original laptop inf that came with laptop.

It will have a name like xxxx.inf (4 letters)

ie nvdm.inf is for Dell, nvsz.inf for Sony etc etc.

Once you work out what the INF is called, look inside the attached file.

There will be oodles of INFs, unzip into the driver directory the right INF.

Remove the nv_disp.inf, uninstall old driver, then run the Setup program.

Now you basicly have the very latest OEM nVidia driver installed.

Their will be NO tweaks installed, these INFs are Basic original INFs.

Report back with findings.

Enjoy,

Pieter.

Attachments are offlline at the moment so here is the ZIP file.

Hi Pieter,

I tried my original inf (NVTS.inf) with 56.55. It did not fix the black bar issue, and there was a problem in that it tried to install 3 different files that were in the original installation directory but did not come with 56.55.

Bummer,

Craig

Pieter, the above posts are right; the link to the OEM infs is broken. I'd love to take a peek at that Dell inf.

Sorry about this, BUT..... I'm a little confused on what files need to be placed where.

I've extracted the NVTS.inf for my Toshiba, but I noticed that the zip file also has a nv4_disp.inf. Do both of these need to be extracted to the Nvidia folder? Or does the NVTS.inf go inot a different folder and does the nv4_disp.inf need to be extracted at all????

The nvts.inf is the file your after. You don't need nv4_disp.inf from ZIP

Delete or move the original nv4_disp.inf (with 56.55)

Copy the nvts.inf into the directory and run setup.

Enjoy,

Pieter.

Never mind guys, must be very frustrating.

I'm uploading 56.57 as we speak, so the hope continues.

I can't for the life of me get hold of 56.54 (a known lappy driver)

You can now try 56.57 as it's just been uploaded and modded.

I've tried 56.57 with your 56.54 NVTS.inf as well as with the GeForce4 440GO selection from its included nv4disp.inf from ^voodoo. Both still give the black bar with my Satellite 5605 S501 :)

Guest Chriper

I have same same problem with the black bar on my Toshiba satelite 2410-303. I ran a 3DMark 2001 with a couple of the new forceware drivers and I got less points than with the detonator XP drivers. So, as long as the mobile GFX card doesn't support all the new directX 9 features, why should we use these new drivers??? :)

I actually think that we are better of with the old detonaters (I use 44.68 myself)...
