Go 7400 Windows 7 Problem ( Direct3D ? )

Hi,

First of all I want to thank the nice gentlemen who made this great site. It is sad to see, both NVIDIA and the Laptop manufacturers, not caring about the consumers and not providing them with the necessary drivers and so it is good to know that some people make an effort.

Secondly, although the modded driver for my GeForce Go 7400 (179.48) is working when in normal Windows, I have problems with getting it to work for games. I installed Windows 7 Professional 64x yesterday on my Sony VAIO VGN-AR21B (Germany)and I tried both Baldur's Gate (GOG version) and the original Unreal (also from GOG) and both are flickering like mad when in fullscreen mode. I also tried the original Half-Life and it seems that OpenGL works without problems, but that changes when I switch to Direct3D.

As a secondary problem, NVIDIA scaling does not work, even though I checked the box for that when I downloaded the modded *.inf.

Does anybody have any clue on what might cause these problems? In Windows 7 86x I did not have this problem in both games, but I had another driver. (I think I used the Vista one from Sony Support)

Well, again thanks and hopefully somebody can help me... :)

Beni

^^UPDATE: I tried another driver version (190.38) because that version was recommended in another thread, but sadly the problems still persist.

On the other hand, I found out that, when I play the games in windowed mode, the flickering stops, but when I go back to fullscreen... well you can guess. The "flickering" can be best described as an oscillation on the vertical axis... I mean the picture goes up and down really fast, I guess around 100 pixels. I also tried to run the games in compability mode and with all the shiny Windows 7 features turned off, to no avail.

I've been on this problem for one and a half day now and I still have no clue on what might cause this. :)

PS.: One more thing, Device manager says I only have a Standard-PnP-Monitor... could that be the problem, and if so, does anybody know a driver for the Sony VAIO VGN-AR21B display?
