I've tested the drivers and it all works nicely so far. Please let me know if I've done something horribly wrong. 260.99 Verde, modified for use with Dell XPS L501X & (only) GeForce GT 420M Supported OS:Windows 7 64-bit My system has a 420M, so that`s what I modified. It`d be pretty easy to modify the 435M, so feel free to do so. I have bought Dell XPS L501x for CUDA debugging and I was disappointed with the inability to update the driver to 260.99 version. It wasn't easy to find your solution. I'll do tested it and then I'll give you my feedback. The first CUDA tests results are OK. Now, I'm trying to do the same with linux (Ubuntu in my case) because I only use windows when I need Visual Studio (not possible with Eclipse yet). Thanks. Go on! No matter how much shared I have I always get the same results in games. See I have 128MB dedicated and 703MB shared. With GPU monitoring software the GPU never ever uses more than 128MB even under a intense load. (Specifically Fallout 3 on a Geforce Go 6150. Can you imagine?) I also always have the same FPS. Guest HFaruk Posted January 22, 2011 Report Share Posted January 22, 2011 Just did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro x64 on a Dell XPS 15 L501X laptop. Installed all the latest driveres following Dell "Driver Install Instructions". I have problems with my Nvidia GeForce GT 420M video card. In Device Manager it is showing as installed and working properly. But when I go to the Desktop to adjust the screen resolution, the card doesn't appear. All I'm shown is the "Generic PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". When I right click on desktop I don`t see any nVidia Control Panel (like I see on my old Inspiron 1520). I tried to manually install nVidia Control Panel using NvCplSetupInt.exe located in C:\dell\drivers\R292130\Display but I recived this message "Setup failed to read the required Display Driver to be used with this package." Uninstalled the video driver that Dell provides on their website. Then I went to nVidia and downloaded and installed their latest driver for my specific card. Received this message: "This graphics drive could not find compatible graphics hardware". I replaced nvac.inf with the one you provided. The driver has been installed succesfully but now I have again the first problem (the one discribed in the first half of the post). Some advise please ? Thanks.
