HDMI via VGA on Dell Vostro 1700 with Nvidia 8600m GT

Hi ya'll !

I have a Vostro 1700 laptop with a Nvidia 8600m GT card. Unfortunately the (good) people at dell decided that a HDMI port was too much for the 1700 ! Neither was I interested when I bought it cos there was nothing lying around that used HDMI.

Come last winter,i got a Panasonic LCD which needless to say, has HDMI. I now cant wait to play all those games on widescreen. The problem is, how do I connect ?

Would I be better off connecting via VGA-VGA cable or can I get a VGA-HDMI cable ( eg- http://cgi.ebay.com/1-8M-HDMI-VGA-HD-15-Cable-Converter-PC-TV-1080p-/380309494155?pt=AU_Television_Accessories&hash=item588c36598b) ? Can the VGA port on the vostro provide the signal needed without additional devices ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !
