Upgrading the panel of Vostro 1500

Hi all,

I upgraded my Vostro 1500 with a better 1680x1050 LCD panel from a broken non-Dell laptop. Everything went fine except that now the BIOS doesn't recognize the panel, so the panel doesn't work correctly during booting. It shows distorted image until the POST completes and then doesn't show anything until the OS loads proper drivers.

I think this is not because the BIOS can't handle the panel, but because it checks for original one. Vostro 1500 is available with several panel options and 1680x1050 is among them, thus, since the same BIOS is used among all these models, my laptop BIOS must be able to handle the 1680x1050 panel too. As my new panel is technically identical to the original one, I suspect the BIOS checks the panel EDID for proper manufacturer/product ids.

Could anyone post the EDID of a Vostro 1500 1680x1050 panel, so I could change the manufacturer/product ids to 'proper' ones?
