Download via Windows update in canary channel on a desktop rig (for whatever reason Microsoft removed mobile INF's from CAB's a while ago)

To create a backup go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\
There must be a file with recent date stamp and some 100 MB file size, the name consists of random hex numbers without .CAB extension

Branch: bugfix_main-18466

Vulkan API 1.3.260
CUDA SDK 12.2.0 💩

Just noticed that Photoshop complains about missing OpenCL support, while GPU-Z shows it.

Anyone else?

GPU-Z does not open a context. Instead try an actual demo in GPU Caps Viewer.

And indeed it's broken again like in r530.04 or r525.26 💩

any cab for rtx 3060 mobile?

As mentioned above no more laptop support 💩

Time again for INF modding, in your case:

[NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0...17134]
%NVIDIA_DEV.2520%           = Section071, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2520
%NVIDIA_DEV.2521%           = Section071, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2521
%NVIDIA_DEV.2560%           = Section071, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2560
%NVIDIA_DEV.2561%           = Section071, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2561

[Strings]
DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows 10 (64 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"
FLG_ADDREG_KEYONLY = 0x00000010
FLG_ADDREG_NOCLOBBER = 0x00000002
NVIDIA = "NVIDIA"
NVIDIA_A = "NVIDIA"
NVIDIA_DEV.2520 = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU"
NVIDIA_DEV.2521 = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU"
NVIDIA_DEV.2560 = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU"
NVIDIA_DEV.2561 = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU"

Interesting for sure.

I have a question, I am using an RTX 4070 Super desktop card. For my own reasons, I decided to mod the INF of driver 546.33 and install the card. Officially the card gets driver support with 546.65. I got the driver to install, and the control panel opens and works, GPU-Z reads the card correctly, etc.

However when I get into a game, or run a benchmark the card is running super slow. Like almost in limp mode. One benchmark produced about half the actual performance of the card. The clocks on core/mem read full speed, and 100% utilization with decent but low power consumption.

Is there a way to fix this? Am I missing something?

can someone help me with installing latest NVIDIA driver for my Lenovo Idepad gaming 3 laptop with RTX 2050, i'm only able to install OEM drivers, when installing NVIDIA official driver it shows incompatible device error.

below are my Device details

hardware Id :

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_25AD&SUBSYS_3AF817AA&REV_A1

device description :

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050

device instance path :

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_25AD&SUBSYS_3AF817AA&REV_A1\4&916989F&0&0009

if someone could provide INF values and where to paste them, i'd appreciate it.

1) your subsystem is  supported in Vulkan betas from https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver

2) for Game Ready driver check out: https://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/34429-how-to-mod-and-sign-nvidia-drivers-with-tpu-nvcleanstall/

3) request official GRD support here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/150885/official-nvidia-verde-notebook-gpu-driver-request-thread/ - mention that it is supported in Vulkan beta

Try different side branches from R545 series

546.65    r546_33-9
546.33    r545_00-157
546.31    r546_21-5
546.17    r545_96-8
545.92    r545_74-10

Theoretically you can modify any driver since R520

"Binary compatibility within one GPU generation can be guaranteed under certain conditions because they share the basic instruction set. This is the case between two GPU versions that do not show functional differences at all (for instance when one version is a scaled down version of the other)"

Thanks, I will give that a try! Still very odd how it installs, lets me change the display to 4K 120Hz and all looks good in device manager/GPU-Z reading card correctly, letting me enable G-Sync and whatnot but not running to full potential. Hogwarts Legacy ran at like 20-30fps at 4K max with ray tracing because it was like not using the core but frame generating I think lol. So odd.

Microsoft DirectX SM 6.8 is around the corner.

  • 2/12/2024 - Release Candidate 1
  • 3/4/2024 - Final Release Candidate
  • 3/11/2024 - Final Release Date

Can s.o. using canary channel on a desktop rig check for R555+ drivers at these dates?

TIA

EDIT: r551.76 supports it
