I think Teraphy was the one to ask.

*Waits for Teraphy to see this thread* :)

If Teraphy was not the person that did some 98 drivers, please hit me upside the head with a trout. :)

I apologize as I have been away.

98 systems are always considered "beta" these days. It may or may not work.

What driver version?

What system? Toshiba or Dell?

What screen size/resolution?

I'll see what I can do.

On a related note, is there any chance of getting a modded .inf for the 50xx series? Many older games prefer Win9x to XP, but the old Gateway 16.20 drivers really suck wind. Failing that, is there a how-to guide anywhere so that I could mod my own inf?

Thanks,

Erich

Ok,

For anyone wanting to get later Win9x drivers, the solution was pretty easy:

1. Install Winrar

2. Extract the factory Nvidia drivers to their own folder (I used 53.04)

3. Boot Win9x in Safe Mode

4. Update driver and point to the directory where you extracted the driver

5. Choose Geforce 256 or whatever

The overall concept here is bypassing the Setup utility which prevents you from installing an "improper" driver.

Let me know if you have trouble.

By the way, this driver is a HUGE improvement over the old one(16.20)!

MY SPECS:

GEFORCE2 GO 32mb

Just for the record what Kondor said is the correct way to install that drive. Just chosse the closest card to what you have.

Also, why don't you put your systems specs in your sig?

You are one of the few people that has the same kind of laptop that Pieter (moblenvidia) has.

I too need a Win9x driver for a Geforce FX Go5200. Mine is a Dell 5150.

Just like the original poster, I'm not looking for any fancy performance... I just want to get out of the 640x480 hell.

Kondor99 has a one valid solution.

I'll get a file up ASAP. I was really busy over the weekend. I'll put up a couple versions as I don't make many modifications because in this case less is more.

Darn... that still doesn't work for me.

I've got a Dell 5150 (bios A36) with a Geforce FX Go5200. I've got two paritions with Windows 98se and Windows Me.

When I use any of the available Nvidia drivers (I think I've tried them all), and any combination of mod'ed INF files, my laptop reboots and returns me to the safe mode.

This occurs consistently in both Win98se and WinMe. (BTW: The Nvidia drivers work just fine in WinNT, Win2k, WinXP, Win2003)

Any suggestions?
