Best Drivers For Doom 3

Hey All,

Just thought I'd make a post about Doom 3.

I had been having many performance problems with Doom 3 on my laptop, it has 1Gb Ram, a 2.8 P4 and 64mb GeForceFX Go. I was running everything in the lowest quality settings with shadows and specularity off and it still ran poorly, unplayable at some points. I tried many different drivers but none of them helped until I tried the 61.77 drivers.

They have provided a massive performance boost, and now I can run Doom 3 in 1024x768 in high quality settings with shadows, specularity etc.. turned on and it runs perfectly.

I hope other people will try these drivers and have the same results I have had with them as I hear quite a few people with laptops are having performance issues in Doom 3, even with better specs than me.

I have yet to try Far Cry, which I also had performance problems with, but I will get back to you once I have tried them.

What FX Go is it? 5200, 5600, 5700 ??

Oh sorry didn't realised i'd missed that out, thats on a GeForce Fx Go5600.

That was a very important Tip for me! :) Thought I have to carry back the Game to the Store because of 5 fps all the time.

But now : => Timedemo 1

High Detail with Shadow:

800x600 28.3 fps

1024x768 20,7 fps

High Detail without Shadow:

800x600 38,7fps

1024x768 28,3 fps

Thats cool. Thing the 1GB Ram is very useful. During the Game the Taskmanager told me that I use 780 Mb at the Moment.

Eigentlich gaunz guat. Hob imma denkt das des Gerätl des net packt. Oba bin gaunz zufrieden. Überhaupt seid i 1Gb Ram drin hob. Des hüft echt. Und Du?

I mues sogen, als i den Lappi gegen den olten getauscht hob wor i irgendwie von der Performance enttäuscht, hob mar mehr von a FXgo erwartet (hob davor an Toshi 2430-404S mit 4go gehoben).

Aber eatz wo die DX9 spiele kemen merkt man in Unterschied, weil a kolleg hot mein olten lappi und man sieht das der DX9 support viel ausnholt... :)

Bin grod beim überlegen ob i mar o 1 gig Ram einbau, ober i woas eben no nit wieviel des bringt... hob bis eatz a 7200 rpm festplotte und wlan nochgarüstet...

Konnst du mir mal a paar benchmarks schicken damit i ungefähr woas wie sich des auswirkt? :)

Bei de Benchmarks mocht des man Untaschied. Kann anzigen Punkt. Oba ba de Spüle hüfst enorm. Far Cry is, nochdem i 1Gig einipockt hob (war da Hauptgrund) und die Auslogerungsdatei auf nui gstoit hob, ruckelfrei glaufen. Vorher hob i auf da 1024'erAuflösung Probleme ghobt.

Waunst an support für dei werkl brauchst muast a moi do Guternet - Forum 5200-903vorbeischaun.

Do bin i a öfters.

Wo hast du denn die Rams so billig her bekommen?

Ein Teil kostet ja schon 130 Euro bei Geizhals, oder hast du nur 1 Arbeitsspeicher rein getan?

Und hast du Pc2100er mit Cl2,5 genommen oder kann ich da bessere auch hernehmen? Und sind das die Ram mit 144 pin?

Und danke fürn Forum tipp, wirklich interresante Themen dabei, obwohl ich das meiste schon kenne... :)

Na,na, sand 2 x 512mb. zwor noname. Abo glaub net das I do an grossn untaschied kenn.

des is so a Computerkette ba uns. Steht glaub i net in da listn. hob einfoch amoi augruafen und gfrogt. de haum vü sochan billig und guat. waun a net imma in da listn. :)
