66.31/66.32 Results

66.31 (both WHQL and Non-WHQL versions) and 66.32 are nearly identical drivers. Each is stable and consistent with recent releases 65.73 and 65.90, which means they are very good drivers. Changes are minor and are limited to specific hardware support and bug fixes. The problem I reported with version 66.00, where 3DMark01 looped continuously, is now fixed.

To customize the appearance and performance of games, you now must create an application profile with the settings you want for each game, including things like brightness, contrast, digital vibrance, anistropy, antialiasing, etc. Creating a new profile isn't particularly intuitive, so we'll post a set of directions on our FAQ page soon.

Since this set should be fully compatible with both SP2 and DX9c, and since they knock out some bugs without losing speed, all three are definitely worth a look.

Your score is only down 3.5% from mine, which is about right for your machine. I have the 3.06 GHz CPU, which accounts for the difference.

Also, make sure you are running in Single Display mode and not Clone Mode. Clone Mode takes a small bite out of performance.

I have not tried these drivers yet, and the reason why is I am afraid to change anything in my system. I have been tweaking it for days and was able to score the following:

3D Mark 03 Main Test Results

3DMark Score 3668 3DMarks

CPU Score 644.0 CPUMarks

Aqua Mark

# 1 AquaMark Score: 31713 (CPU: 8572, GFX: 3891)

Acer Aspire 1712 - GeForce FX Go5700

Should I try new drivers or just never change a thing hehe

Does anybody know what was changed from 66.31 to 66.32?

I might want to upgrade. (even though there is no reason)

I've updated the benchmark post to clarify the use of Application Profiles, which are now needed to apply settings like Digital Vibrance, brightness, contrast, gamma, anisotropic filtering and antialiasing to games.

There is virtually no difference between 66.31 and 66.32. 66.32 simply added support for a new card. There's no point in upgrading from 66.31.

I would just like to mention here that when I setup a profile digtial vibrance worked just fine for me, the 66.31 driver is great.

Edit:

Ha, I found these drivers over at Gainward, obviously for an upcoming new card for them.

ftp://gainward-ftp.de/driver/nvidia/v6632/' target="_blank">

John give up on DV, take Larry's word for it that nVidia have stepped down a darker path (oh, I kill me)

First, that is funny, second, I bet anyone here a beer :) that Nvidia's next official driver release on their site will be a 66.3x or 66.4x driver.

...Wait, I can't buy beer legally... :)
