Guest - D.Com -
Hey fellas, I know this is a little removed from nVidia drivers, but I'm trying to get the most from my system - which is what you fellas like talking about =) Question: Why should I install DirectX 9? Here's the deal: In my Dell i8100 I've got a 64MB Quadro4 700 GoGL - a DX8.1 card. The only game I have time to play (and the will to mod) is Grand Prix 4 - a DX8.1 game. So is there a decent chance DX9 will improve things, or will more system files only slow down my machine? I know there's the possibility a new game that requires DX9 *might* catch my eye, but I'll deal with that later if that happens. Cheers, - D.Com -
Bill
You could try setting a restore point and installing DX 9.0c and then testing the game and if there is noticeable slow down you can revert back to DX 8.1 You should also get SP2 and some new drivers for it maybe. When I installed DX9.0a and 9.0b, I did not notice any slowdown in DX 7 or 8 games. Although I think 9.0b might have slowed down UT2004 a bit. Now that I have SP2 and some new drivers and after I tweak things out it runs real nice. Bill
®®®
Don't think about it. Just install DX9.0c and you don't have to worry about anything. It's one of the updates for your system that don't hurt.
