Guest heaveny38
I guess most people knew that already, but I only wanted to share what happened to me trying to run Doom 3 on my laptop. As written in my system info, my laptop has a GeForce FX 5600 for a graphics card, which isn't so bad. But when I tried running Doom 3, it was really slow, like a slide show, at 800x600 medium details, even at 640x480 low detail. I had to even disable all the special effects to make it run smoothly. Even then, with all the lowest settings possible, it was still slow at times, so I then decided to play it on my desktop computer which has a Radeon 9600, and I was surprised to see that performance was really different, it was running relatively smooth at 800x600, medium quality and all eye candy on. Now I finished the whole game thinking it was my GeForce FX which was handicapped in Doom 3, because of its poor shaders. But I was WRONG. Trying newer drivers with laptopvideo2go.com hacked inf, I tried it again, just out of curiosity. And, even with half the RAM (only 64mb, which I don't have a solution yet), well, it was running even better than on my desktop. At 800x600 medium quality with all eye candy on, it's running even smoother than on my desktop with a Radeon 9600. Now call that a change :) Well, that's it, a long story :)
