I would like to thank LIFERIDER who saved my arse!! I flashed my graphics card with an official Acer BIOS update and didn't make a backup before that. So my card stopped working (althiugh I used an official BIOS from ACER website). LIFERIDER was so nice that he made a backup copy of his BIOS and send it to me even though he never done it before.

I would like to thank also this forum and the Website for all the support in every aspect.

  :) :P   :) :) :P :( :( :P

THANKS LIFERIDER!!!

:) It worked? That's great to hear. The instructions stickied there were helpful?

Liferider is the only one listed for this VBIOS, there might be more around here, but haven't updated the mobile NV BIOS section for some time.

Wouldn't it be great to send a beer to Liferider with PayPal :)

I gave him my instructions:

Ok. First of all you should know, that what you will do is TOTALLY SAFE!!!

You don't do nothing to your card, just read off it, so no need to worry.

To make a backup of you graphics card BIOS is really easy. I will try to be

as specific as possible, so maybe you will already know some steps.

1. step

MAKE A BOOTABLE FLOOPY DISK

How to do it? Take an empty floppy disk. Put it in floppy drive. Go to Windows

Explorer. With your right mouse button klik on floppy drive. A drop down window

will open and select FORMAT... A new window will open. Select

"Create an MS-DOS startup disk". Click "start". The computer will copy boot

files to floppy. And voila, you have a bootable floppy disk.

2. step

DOWNLOAD A FILE CALLED "NVFLASH.EXE and CWSDPMI.EXE" AND COPY IT TO FLOPPY.

The ZIP file with these two files is at

http://www.nvplanet.com/modules.php?name=D...p=getit&lid=257

After you download this file, UNZIP these two files to bootable floppy disk.

3. step

MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR GRAPHICS CARD BIOS

Ok, now this is the last thing you have to do.... Put the bootable floppy disk

into floppy drive. Now restart the computer with the floppy inside. The sistem

will boot of the bootable floppy disk. When A:\ comes up, all you need to do is

tipe NVFLASH -b backup.rom

And then just wait so the program writes to floppy your graphics card BIOS.

After you do that press CTL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer. Don't forget to take

out the floppy before you reboot. And now the nice part. SEND ME BACKUP.ROM that is

on floppy disk!!! :( :) :)

(TIP:

If your sistem doesn't boot off your floppy do the following. Restart the computer...

When the blue screen with ACER comes up at the begining, press F2.

Motherboard BIOS will open. Go to BOOT and with F5/F6 move floppy disk to the top of

the list. And then just save it and that's it. Now the system will boot to floppy disk.)

If paypal would be able to send a six-pack to LifeRider, that would be awsome! :P

Anyway, happy to be a member.

P.S. If you need someone to update ACER part for system BIOS files, I can do it. I have all ASPIRE 1700 BIOS-es and I could add also for other models.
