Guest bbens
Hey all - I've searched the site, but still have a couple of questions which I wonder if someone can answer: 1. What's your recommendation for a driver and INF file for my Dell i9300 with the 256mb 6800 GO? 2. Is it worth the possible risk and hassle to change the driver from the stock one in the first place? Do you think I'll actually notice a difference? The only graphics-intensive app I run is GTA San Andreas... Thanks a lot - Brad
Bill
I assume the drivers you are running are recent drivers, like 72.xx or maybe older 67.xx, but if what you have is fine with you, maybe you should wait to upgrade, especially if the games you have work fine on your older driver. If you follow the instructions and don't overclock there is pretty much no risk using Pieter's mod INF, and once you get in the hang of downloading drivers, replacing the INF, and installing them in the device manager, it is really easy to do. The 77.72 driver with Pieter's mod INF is probably a good place to start. As far as differences go, you might or might not notice any, if your current driver works just fine, and you update to a newer one that also runs fine on your laptop, you will hopefully not notice any difference in game except that maybe you will get a higher framerate. :) You will notice more pages in your graphics options, everything from overlays to overclocking will be there if you are using Pieter's mod INF. Hope you have good luck with drivers from here if you do upgrade. Bill
Guest B Bens
Hey Bill - Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like I've currently got 6.7.7.1 from 11/30/2004. I was just curious if the improvement after upgrading drivers is noticeable..I think I'll try 77.72 and the correct INF and see. Thanks again, Brad
