Guest Spiky Pirate
I have a laptop, Toshiba Satellite 3000, and i get an error message when i play counter strike1.6 Heres the error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program:...steam\steamapps\(my email)\counter-strike\hl.exe abnormal program termination When I get an error, it shuts down the whole game(cs1.6). I tried to fix this problem by contacting steam manufacterers, but they don't think the error is caused by the software. Here are several steps i've tried by myself: 1. Update graphics card driver(7777) from this forum. 2. Download and install the most up to date version of DirectX. 3. disable the soundcard via device manager and try running the game. 4. Run a full spyware and virus scan of my system. 5. Update the latest BIOS. None of them fixed the problem. I am thinking.. maybe CPU driver might fix the problem? Kamika007z
Did you check to see if there is anything suspicious running in Task Manager? Sometimes not all adware or virus scanning tools will find them. This might not help but try newer drivers such as the 8x.xx series. Worst-case scenario would be do remove steam entirely and reinstall it. Let us know what else happens.
Guest Spiky Pirate
Just tried out 80.12 driver, but it didnt fix the problem. Reinstalling steam, it also didn't fix the problem. (I don't think the software is causing the problem.)
