wizardman
Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, I searched all that I could :) Anyhow, Just after installing the latest 8.7.0.8 drivers, I cannot change the resolution on the Laptop's 1680 x 1050 panel. It works OK when another monitor is connected however. When trying to change res, the laptop screen blanks out, with the backlight still on. The laptop must then be hard booted (5 secs power button to shutdown) and sometimes will completely lock up (must remove battery). It is stuck on 1024 x 768 (32 bit), so it is distorted with my widescreen panel. Please help! :)
Fabrice Roux
Either reinstall Dell latest official driver or 84.25 from this site. The widescreen modes are supported in both of these solutions.

Excellent, this worked! Thanks a TON!! This site rocks. Now I have resolutions i've not seen before -- 1280 x 864 ?? :) Consider this resolved, though I had to silence a "critical update" from windows that is trying to install drivers back from 2004.... :) -brad
Fabrice Roux
Keep in my that the screen native resolution is the best choice... HANDS DOWN. I would only consider gaming in lower resolutions in games that require more frames per second than full res can provide. AFAIR: I never saw a driver as a critical update...
