Guest Erick-5290G
Hello everyone, I have an Acer Aspire 5290G, with the 8600m gs (256mb ddr2) clocked at 450/400 stock, and a blu-ray drive. In search of better frame rates in games, downloaded the Vista-32 bit 169.04 drivers, as well as the modded .INF. I found that I can now overclock (the clock settings no longer revert back to stock in ntune when applied) and am getting improved frame rates. (have gone up to 615/440 so far) But now I find that my blu-ray playback no longer works with Acer Arcade. When I try to play a disc, I get a message that the protected content won't play because 'Windows Aero color scheme is not enable on this card', or 'Your VGA card does not prevent screen capture for content protection'. I checked and my Aero scheme is indeed enabled. Is HDCP somehow being disabled with this newer driver? Any ideas on how to rectify this? What's the latest driver that allows overclocking for the 8600m gs? The drivers on Acer's site are old as heck. (156, no OC :) ) Thanks, Erick
LSudlow
This thread describes the problem and provides a solution. You need to use a WHQL driver with an unmodified inf. Use the "Have Disk" method to install and lie to it about which machine you have. Look for the instructions about two thirds of the way down the first page of posts. http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....showtopic=15927

I'll check it out and hopefully something will work for me.
Guest Guest
Update - having some problems finding an overclockable + WHQL-certified set of drivers for 8600M GS (or something even close). Am I looking for something that doesn't exist?
