jmhdj
Hello again. I have changed thermal compound yesterday and made some small tweaks with cooling pad on gpu and now i`m able to overclock even more :) . And temps never reach over 62 deg. even after playing crysis on medium for couple hours.
jmhdj
Hello again. I even pushed more on this card and set clocks to 700/1750/900 (core, shader, mem.) and tested vithout problems so far. Max temp was 64 deg. Going to oc core litle bit more and test again.
Guest guest_999
hello all, im new to 9600M GT OC here. only recently i started OC because reading many posts seeing many were unable to OC their 9600M GT. Until i had to OC an factory-underclocked vaio, i started OCing my 9600M GT also. i had installed a rivatuner prior to the nvidia system tools but it just didn't let me change the clock. so here it is: my version comes with 512MB GDDR3 so that should be the correct default speed. OCed it to 9700M GT level and immediately i got ~10 fps bumps in L4D2 in max settings. im comfortable with 100-200mhz software-level overclock cause i had OCed my old ati m9700 card for 2 years and its still ok now, as long as you dont mess with memory clock too much cause i had seen so many artifacts from there now. this guy with DDR2 9600M GT even dare to OC his 9600M GT to 1700shader and 700clock which is way higher than mine. click here with this OC its running at 63*C idle in a/c room with coolpad. it's warmer than usual but im sure it'll be fine cause i only OC for games. its an acer 5930 btw. "Off-topic": anyway i also OCd that Vaio FE series with GO 7600 (128MB DDR) card from low default speed of 350/350mem to 550/380mem. although some quote it should be running its memory at 400mhz, the vaio will shows artifact at anything >380mem. so far both laptops had no problems handling their new GPU speed i just hope anything is alright just like my old ati mobility 9700 which have been OCd for more than 2 years and still working perfectly in its 5th year. one question: why in my small experience of software-level GPU OCing i feel that memory OC brings the greatest impact towards performance? like that vaio running at 450/380mem vs 550/380mem bring about same results. same goes with my old ati m9700. any user feel the same? Guest guest_999
hello again, I've downloaded 3DMark06 and run some tests. However, I've only overclock the memory from 900MHZ to 880MHZ (10% OC) due to the fact that my system got BLANK screen during the test or in other games. Upon reboot, no BSOD it just show the option similar to F8 where i need to click start windows normally. Then my Logitech Z Cinema buzzes like nobody's hearing. it never buzz like that before. So I suspect the driver has some incompatibilities with nvidia system tools, or logitech z cinema is doing something wrong. I will sort it later. Now is the time for the results: Stock 9600M GT 512MB GDDR3: 3DMark 2006 (1280x800) = 5935pts. notebookcheck.net reviews the same laptop (exact spec) and it scores 5678pts. 9600M GT OC to 625/880/1550 (9700M GT speed) and result = 6876 points. The laptop spec is default: Intel P8600 (2.4), 4GB DDR2 RAM, Vista HP 32-bit, 320GB HDD, 9600M GT 512MB DDR3, and running at 1280x800 NO AA. P.S. Before I have tried running at 900mem speed and it shows 69xx pts. Not bad for a mid end 2008 laptop.
Guest wackymaky
Hey :) I have a 9700M GT and seeing as it is pretty much a 9600 with higher clocks I can safely say that it works fine if you raise the clocks beyond the stock 9700 clocks. Currently I am running them at: core:780 memory:920 shader:1800 I have never had a blue screen with these clocks. In some games I get artefacts ( i think thats what they;re called) but mainly only in strategy games for some reason, such as red alert 3. My temperatures are unbder control ranging from around 86-95 whilst under stress. When i first overclocked with rivatuner it was hard work and i couldn't get powermizer to work. You might say : why would i want powemizer? I do because it keeps my idle temps low and my fan can be a bit loud at times (Acer 8930g) Just my personal recommendation after much trial and error: Nvidia system tools 6.06..... its the way to go! besweeet
Hey everyone, I'm going to overclock my MacBook Pro's 9600M GT (256MB) later today. The current speeds are: Core: 500 Shader: 1250 Memory: 792 (1584 effective) I'm planning on bringing them up to: Core: 650 Shader: 1600 Memory: 850 (?) What's the best method of doing this? I guess NVflash would be alright. Not sure how to modify my original BIOS. I also get 65C when idling.
