replaced/superseded by Toshiba's IDT HD Audio driver v6.10.6491.0.  and Dell has their own version of the IDT audio driver version 1.0.6491.0/6.10.6491.0.

HP has version 6.10.6499.0 inside the sp65631.exe package.

Important note: Sigmatel/IDT audio products have been recently sold and supported by Tempo Semiconductor Inc. around the end of year 2013.  any info about Sigmatel/IDT AC97-HD audio is now found on the Tempo Semiconductor web site instead of the IDT web site.

What happened to all the IDT posts?

erp-ster7n will you still be doing any mods in the future?

The driver problem seems worse than ever now seeing as how Win 10 is ever rejecting the official old HP / IDT drivers.

I'm sorry Pimpoff.  Because the Laptopvideo2go forum site went down in mid-December 2015 (and all the posts from year 2015 have been lost due to the server's hard drive failure),

the modded IDT audio project has been put into indefinite hiatus (so it's basically dead...for now).

Plus Tempo Semiconductor Inc (TSI), the new driver provider for IDT audio, hasn't made any new IDT audio drivers since the summer of 2015 [here are the "select" few Tempo IDT Audio v6.10.6504.0 drivers from MS Update Catalog that can only be used on select HP All-in-One desktop PCs and select Toshiba laptops with SUBSYS IDs beginning with either 103C for HP or 1179 for Toshiba].

If you guys want any new modded IDT audio mods from me, send me either an email or PM.  I won't be posting any new mods in the forums for a while.

Hi erp-ster7n!

I just saw the main webpage. What a shame! You did some really good work on the IDT front and a big thanks to you for being the go to person in all things IDT. I wouldn't have known about the latest Tempo drivers if you didn't point them out.

Made a mod for 6504 but unfortunately it didn't take for my HP Envy. Installed fine but I went overboard on the settings. However it was my first attempt.

If you do not mind I will contact you in the future. These older 2011 IDT drivers seem to be causing a major FPS slowdown for some reason.

Hope you forgave MS! ; )

I will eventually "forgive" MS when Windows 10 Redstone release (or a Windows 10.1) officially comes out in either late spring 2016 or early summer 2016.

I just don't like the way MS is aggressively pushing the Win10 upgrades onto Win7 or Win8.1 computers lately.

and I hope you are using Win10 v1511 (build 10586 - Threshold 2) and not the Win10 RTM (build 10240) release on your HP laptop, Pimpoff.

I didn't try out Win10 on any of my computers until the November 2015 update (or Fall 2015 update) for Windows 10 came out.

Hewlett Packard only tested out their desktop/laptop PCs that were manufactured in mid-2013 or later (or sold from August 2013 or later) for Win10 compatibility.  Any HP computer made before that time are not fully guaranteed to run Win10.

Hehe in a way I know what you are talking about but from another side; switchable graphics (AMD/Intel).

My laptop was only supported with drivers for less than 1 year by HP even tough I bought it on release. Then it never received support for Windows 8 whilst spec and age wise it fit into the bracket of laptops that were supposed to receive support.

To make a long story short the actual graphics driver switching from Intel to AMD resulted in a nice blackscreen. Took quite a lot of modding to discover a fix and a mobo certainly decided to degrade from constant usage. Fortunately whilst still under warranty ; ).

MS has to realise that there are some serious issues that need to be addressed before pushing a new Windows onto some laptop machines. In my experience it was the Synapsis drivers / Graphics drivers and sound drivers which are the biggest issues.

This however pushed problems to the forefront and makes some OEMs fix their buggy drivers. AMD for example did a lot of work over the years to finally fix their switching.

The Audio / Windows performance / Memory issue:

Maybe this can help a little bit in determining which old drivers are affected on HPs for future reference.

r4in seems to have the same issue from what I gathered via another forum:

Hist latest driver is: 6.10.6433.0; 5.10.6433.0(19 Jul 2013)

posted a thread about this in this forum

My latest driver is: Version 6.10.6328.0 Rev. Released: Apr 22, 2011

If you ever feel like taking a look at this I will be glad to help! Am indeed running the latest Windows on the official stream!

OK, it seems the problem for me (HP Probook 6465b) was solved by installing HP driver version 6.10.6367 (sp57776.exe) in Windows 7 compatibility mode:

1) Uninstall current IDT drivers, reboot and delete any residual IDT files (Program Files\IDT folder) and registry entries (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IDT)
2) Download sp57776.exe, extract it, right click on Setup.exe, choose Compatibility tab -> Run this program in compatibility mode -> Windows 7)
3) Install driver, reboot, no more audiodg.exe eating HDD usage.
