mobilenvidia
Yes it takes me days to get back to a fully working system. But everything is nice and responsive with a clean install

mobilenvidia
I've not noticed any fixes. I did notice that the Graphics driver was just VGA compatable. Had to download a driver (179.67) via auto update. RC builds always a NV driver that got installed. I must check what driver is included most likely only a Desktop one. This build is about 200MB smaller (3GB) to previous RC builds.
mobilenvidia
Just had a look on the DVD and 7600 comes with WDDM 185.93 the no Control Panel version

Guest kevin
So if I install the RTM build, will my beta/rc key work to activate the OS? I'm assuming this is how you got windows to activate for the screen shot. Also, will this activation be under the same constraints as the RC, in terms of when it will stop working? I get windows free through school, but I dont want to have a month with a useless laptop if it stops working before the student copies are available. mobilenvidia
RC keys won't work with RTM builds. No key gives you 30 day trial. I take it schools will have access to Win 7 on the 22nd of October like everybody else ?
Gameo
I must admit that I'm starting to get slightly pissed, pardon my expression. They could and should've made any updates to the windows core as UPDATES after the RC. At least that was what I'd expect. *sigh* I'm not formatting again. Galdere
I'm wondering why it says 3.25Gb of RAM is usable on the 64 bit version?
Phnx
I'm guessing it's a physical chipset limitation on his PC
RangerXML
Downloaded DVD 2 nights ago, cleaned out my HDDs, got extra 250GB for my desktop and backed up yesterday, today change out some hardware, add 8800GS for dedicated PhysX, setup Raid 0 (2x250GB HDD) and install Windows 7, and in 2 weeks I get my retail key! I am beyond excited, technet is going to be sweet this year.
Guest google
7260 (last RC build) may update. Best real solution as always is to clean install though ere’s what you can do to bypass the check for pre-release upgrade IF YOU REALLY REALLY NEED TO: 1. Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD. 2. Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build). 3. Browse to the sources directory. 4. Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad. 5. Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7233 to 7201. 6. Save the file in place with the same name. 7. Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed. Beyond
Found this comment to a Mininova x64 RTM torrent. 7600 16384 = RTM test sub-build7600 16385 = RTM pre-release sub-build for partners to vote on 7600 16386 = Final RTM after being passed by the vote (September 1st) Once 7600.16386 is compiled, it will be released to MSDN / Technet within 1-2 weeks. And followed by that on MVLS on September 1st.

Korn1699
Found this comment to a Mininova x64 RTM torrent. I think that is wrong because TechNet and MSDN get it on August 6th, so that may be old or just wrong info...
Squall_Rinoa89
I'm also using RTM build 7600. "Evaluation Copy. Expires 3/1/2010 7:59 PM" for me. Good build. Haven't noticed any problems with it yet that i had with 7100 with programs not working. Plays all my games and such fine with the exception to a 3rd party program for Final Fantasy XI Online which doesn't work with 64bit OS's apparently. As for it not being am RTM build its NOT exactly RTM or at least Microsoft never came out and said it was or wasn't. mobilenvidia
I'm wondering why it says 3.25Gb of RAM is usable on the 64 bit version? The i945 Chipset Memory limit is 4GB but 750MB is used by system resources to get the 3.25GB usable Same thing happens on i965 chipset but with 8GB limit and about 1.5GB of resources used

Guest sakelover
I ran my own benchmarks and compared this with build 7200 and the differences? o performance differences 3D Vantage score hardly changed (it always changes slightly every run and reboot anyway) Crysis, Warhead, Far Cry2, really no difference but boot times, have really increased, boots way quicker thats about it u can just replace 2 files and then use any beta or RC key u have, then it is valid till 2010 good enough to test with really it is just Vista finally fixed proper, just Bill Gates wanted a little more cash, so rather than give these updates to Vista, he needed a whole new OS that is everyone should just pirate it everyone knows every change in Windows could be applied to Vista, again, Microsoft wants more cash
