I've installed this new driver with 8600M GT. I try the game (rainbow six: lockdown) for more than half hour and it still works... before, it crash after a 20-30 minutes of play... I also try to play with 1280x960 resolution instead of 1024x768, but if I use the "automatic setting" it return on 1024etc, but I have everything at the maximum quality, so it's ok for me... Hope it didn't crash anymore.

I'll let you know if I'll have other problems.

THANK YOU ANYWAY GUYS!! :)

I am testing these with my HP/Compaq INF and so far I haven't had any trouble except for one game.

Doom64 TC: The Absolution - In areas where Fog is used, Fog will often end up filling the screen with a Blue Haze that can not be seen past. Disabling Fog in the game prevents it but certain stages can not be played as options are disabled at times.

Am testing with NvTray (tweaks all work) and nVHardPage (to enable Fog Table Emulation but results with tweaks have been less than desirable) to see if Fog Table Emulation enabling might help it. (BTW if the author of nVtray is here or knows him can someone ask him to add a Button to enable Fog Table Emulation like the VMR tab?)

For those who have BSOD with 169.xx (as i used to)

- Uninstall any tuning utility (rivatuner...)

- First install 163.44 with the appropriate modded inf (Pieter's INF version 3.219)

- restart

- Do NOT uninstall 163.44 and install 169.04 with the 163.44 modded INF (v 3.219) using the setup.exe

just change this line in the nv_disp.inf

"DriverVer = 08/17/2007, 7.15.11.6344"

by

"DriverVer = 10/28/2007, 7.15.11.6904"

- restart and enjoy. It works on my x200 with 8700M GT 512 :)

- then u can reinstall rivatuner 2.05 or later for oc :)

Hey, I have tried 165.01 drivers, but I got that BSOD... Should I try this ones? The only problem is that I have a GeForce 8400M G not GS, and I can't find it on the list of supported GPU's. The problem I have is my Aero score is 3.1, where gaming score is 4.1, I believe I can improve that with drivers, though, I do not know which one to use as I can't find drivers for 8400M G.....

Suggestions? Gonna try these and report back...

Alright, these drivers work well, so far, at least no BSOD, improved my Aero score by 0.2 PTS, which is now 3.3 and also gaming, 3d score to 4.3, however, I still think that 3.3 is way too low for this video card, or....?

Hello Guys - I really like the 169.04 drivers.. but since i updated from 167.26 i can't connect my laptop with my TV. The TV just flickers around some secons and returns to black.

I am using the same settings as with the old driver... It is connected with an SVIDEO to Chinch adaptor and worked fine.

I've got an Acer Aspire 5920

2,2 GHz Dual Core

Geforce 8600M GT

Vista Home Premium 32 Bit

Thank You

This is going to sound really odd, but with these drivers, in SLI Mode, Age of Empires III gets really glitchy and starts freezing when I move around. In non-SLI mode it is fine. I have duial 8600M GT's and was wonder what a possible course of action might be.

I have the same 8400M G (i believe it's turbocache). And when i install the latest drivers here on laptopvideo2go.com, together with the inf driver, i did'nt have problems anymore with bsod's and i get improvements of 5 fps in game's like crysis. I got performance in vista 32 bit from aero of 3.1 to 3.6, and for games, i had a really performance boost, from 3.6 to 4.8. Together with service pack 1 (you can find it on the web if you look close) and a little oc (rivatuner 2.06) i have great performance.

Got driver's of 169.04, just replace the .inf modded driver with the whole driver you get also here.

Hey, well, I got one strange thing, now when I minimize a window which is maximized, it lags a little bit, I didn't have this with old drivers... Or, is it something else, cause I don't seem to run many processes and have 1GB ram free...

EDIT: Fixed the problem, just put 3D setting in the nVidia Control Panel to Quality, instead od performance.

OC is now possible

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! OMG I love these drivers. I just bought this HP laptop with an 8600M GS and it was running really terrible with the drivers from HP. I play BF 2142 and Bioshock. Once I installed these drivers it totally stopped the stuttering, lagging and it increased my FPS. I am gonna have to donate some money to you guys for taking my worries away. :)

I also did a benchmark on these 169.04 Drivers versus 169.01 and 163.75 drivers -

Results were better in 169.01 -

PassMark Performance Test, CounterStrike, and World in Conflict results for drivers 163.75, 169.01 and 169.04 available upon request if anyone wants.

Under all the mentioned benchmarks, 169.01 outperformed 169.04 - and both drivers are OC'able.

I have the same laptop model as you, and this method does indeed work. Thanks for the tip.

However I'm unable to overclock with Rivatuner 2.06. Doesn't work for some reason... It keeps going back to stock settings after reboot. :P
