waitandhope123
I have a laptop using the ICE Power Audio Wizard. It's on Realtek HDA 8514 so what version can I use that's more recent? Can I use UAD or not? Anyways thanks Update: It appears FF00 works, I know ICE is a seperate ASUS program but thought the driver itself needed support, maybe the generics do already? I know Nahimic had to be FF03 with my ASUS B350-F Edited May 3, 2019 by waitandhope123

ASUS has released their version of the v6.0.1.8591 HDA (nonUAD) driver near the end of April 2019 on their web site for ASUS laptops. ivanRF listed the 8591 driver on his latest ASUS drivers for windows 10 page. that one should work with the latest version of the ICESound tool, which is v1.0.13.1. edit: there's also a v6.0.1.8627 HDA driver from ASUS but that one was made specifically for ASUS workstation & server PCs (though this specific download has both 8491 & 8627 HDA drivers contained in the zip file - look in the "Win10_Win10RS5_2019_x64" folder of that zip file which has the 8627 HDA drivers, the "Server2016_x64" folder has 8491 instead; I don't know why ASUS packed both 8491 and 8627 drivers in that zip file) --- unrelated note v6.0.8694.1 UAD Gigabyte/Clevo driver (released 5/6 - not previously released with the UAD Creative & UAD Nahimic MSI driver packs on 5/3) - includes HDXClevo.inf, HDXGigabyte.inf, HDX_ClevoExt_AVO_RTK.inf & HDX_GigabyteExt_AVO_RTK.inf files (Google drive) (Mediafire)

It seems the HDXRT.inf and the other INF files included in 8683 WHQL HDA have added the following entries: [APODebug.AddReg] HKLM,%APO_DEBUG_REG%,SecureAudioEngineProcess,0x00010001,0x00000000 HKLM,%APO_DEBUG_REG%,DisableProtectedAudioDG,0x00010001,0x00000001 Normally these "APO Debug" registry entries are found in the INF files in the beta/non-whql based Realtek HDA drivers but it seems Realtek forgot to remove them in 8683 WHQL. However, Realtek fixed that little mistake and removed the APO Debug entries in the 8688 WHQL and later HDA FFxx drivers.

erp-ster7n
I didn't really need to contact them. upon further review, it seems only the 8683 FF00 & FF01 versions have the "APO debug" entries in the INF files like HDARt.inf & HDXRT.inf and other INF files. The HDART.inf & HDXRT.inf files from higher 8683 FFxx versions like FF03, FF04, etc. do not have the APO Debug entries.

What the heck? Is it driver based or not. what version of the ICESound app are you using? is it the latest version like v1.0.13.1 listed on ivanrf's web site? if not, upgrade the ICESound app to the latest version. starting with the 8600 HDA drivers (like 8603, 8609, 8612 & above), Realtek created new INF files (HDART4ICE.inf for 32bit, HDXRT4ICE.inf for 64bit) that will only install the ICESound APO DLL & ICESound service EXE files on supported ASUS laptops & motherboards. Before 8603, the older Realtek HDA drivers (FFxx) had HDART4.inf & HDXRT4.inf files that will install & register the ICESound files onto many Realtek audio chipsets, even onto non-ASUS systems (and non-supported ASUS boards like my friend's Asus M5A78L-M LE/USB3 board which the ICEsound app does not support but the ICESoundService64.exe file from the Realtek audio driver keeps loading at startup - I wanted to get rid of it). In 8612 & higher, the HDART4.inf & HDXRT4.inf files no longer install the ICESound integration files including the ICESoundService64.exe file. ---- unrelated note - someone did obtain the 8703 UAD "generic" driver that includes newer HDXRT.inf and HDX_GenericExt_RTK.inf files (these are hard to come by but is password-protected)

Romagnolo1973
Hi folks, I'm new and I'm from Italy so sorry if my english in bad. I found this great thread searching for new realtek driver for my laptop (Huawei Matebook D 14" with AMD Ryzen ) because Huawei site has an older sound driver (6.0.1.8459). Sound card is ALC256 : HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0256&SUBSYS_19E53206&REV_1000 I foud a newer dirver pefectly working that is realtek 6.0.1.8678. My laptop use Dolby Atmos Sound System and if I use some newer driver as FF00 or other FF designed for Dolby software this Dolby Atmos Sound System stop working and the output sound is worse, this Dolby software help a bit for a better sound. You know if there is a way to have new Realtek drivers and a new set of driver for Dolby Atmos Soud System? In my system I have some Software components from Dolby, Fortemedia (Microphone for video recording) and Realtek entries that some updater software told me are uotdated and need update Thanks

FFxx drivers are legacy/traditional HDA or non-UAD Realtek audio drivers meant to be used on older machines or older Huawei model laptop PCs. the Dolby Atmos Software components listed in Device Manager are UWP versions which are incompatible with FFxx HDA drivers and require the Realtek UAD/UWP audio drivers. the original 6.0.1.8459 driver from the Huawei web site is a UAD driver. obtain this v6.0.8708.1 UAD Huawei driver from Github, which should work with your Dolby Atmos UWP software. --- unrelated note (not applying to your situation - this is for other users only) I have repacked the 8716.1 and 8721.1 generic UAD audio drivers so that the bundled Realtek setup program will automatically install or update the UAD drivers & Realtek components. also v6.0.8710.1 UAD Creative SBC5 driver from ASRock [only for recent ASRock gaming motherboards with Sound Blaster Cinema 5 support]

Because a not huawei UAD doesn't work? How to install the driver? There is a bat file inside it but it does nothing even if I run it as admin. However, both of those 8708 drivers do not include the Dolby Atmos component files found here (and does not include instructions on how to install or update the Dolby Atmos Software component for the Realtek UAD drivers): https://github.com/alanfox2000/realtek-universal-audio-driver/tree/master/ThirdParty/Dolby/ext_realtek_huawei I could create a customized 8708 or 8721 UAD driver pack that will include the Dolby Atmos UAD/UWP software for your Huawei laptop edit: I no longer have access to the original 8459 Realtek UAD driver from the Huawei web site since my country (USA) has recently banned Huawei Edit 2 (6/13) - here's the 8708 UAD + Dolby Huawei driver I recently made. Requires uninstalling previous HDA/UAD drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller [DDU] and installing this new driver from scratch (aka "clean install"). Edit 3 (6/21) - link to 8708 UAD Dolby Huawei driver removed
