you should be fine, jvidal.  either FF01 or FF04 of 8934 HDA version will work on your computer (there is no FF00 version of 8934 HDA yet)
it's just that the FF04 version benefits mostly Compaq/HP brand PCs as they make use of the Conexant APO files
for FF01, some HP & most Lenovo machines make use of the Fortemedia APO files

otherwise, generic FF01 & FF04 versions function like FF00 on other brand PCs using Realtek audio

BTW, what exactly determines the use of a specific FF0X version? does it require extra hardware or it just depends on the specific realtek chip on your mobo?

for example, my MSI mobo has a Realtek 889 chip, i've been using FF00 drivers.

I mean, why are the specific APO/cx/fortemedia/whatever features not actived on a regular system?

it depends on the hardware device ID number (ah that "hardware ID" info I like to ask people about sometimes which that kind of info is a "goldmine" to me - they can follow the instructions from this site) of your Realtek HD audio device (so yes certain Realtek chipsets with certain hardware IDs may function with other FFxx drivers than just plain FF00 drivers)

it's a MS-7596 (760GM-E51 FX), kinda old, AM3+ (currently running an FX-8320E oc to 3.500).

Edit: the reason I'm interested is because I build and repair pc/notebooks, so a lot of the time I find myself doing clean re-installs of windows, so there's no way to know which version of the driver I need. Also, i can not tell if I need regular or UAD drivers...

UAD/DCH drivers are best suited on desktop/laptop PCs using at least Intel Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake (7th gen/8th gen Intel core) or newer CPUs OR AMD Ryzen or newer AMD CPUs
UAD drivers not supported on Intel Skylake (6th gen Intel core or older) & AMD FX (and older) based PCs using Realtek audio - for such machines, stick to using HDA FFxx drivers.

note - no specific INF file for HWID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0889&SUBSYS_14627596" so you must use a "generic" HDA FFxx driver (any kind from FF00 to FF0C) that includes the HDXRT.inf file

only HDA FFxx drivers will continue to include the generic HDART.inf & HDXRT.inf files that allow installing the driver onto virtually any Realtek audio chipset
UAD drivers no longer include the generic HDXRT.inf file from 8905 & greater (only 8904 UAD is the last one to have it)

If your MSI 760GM-E51 FX board is registered at the MSI web site, you can contact MSI directly and let them read this SafeBreach page about the Realtek HD Audio driver security vulnerability so that MSI can get newer Realtek HDA drivers since MSI still has the v6.0.8703.1 HDA FF00 version from mid-May 2019.

Oh, let them fix that issue, I always use the latest drivers and ignore the ones form the manufacturer's page, they're usually at least one year old.

 

I remember once installing an UAD driver on this mobo (windows 10, on another partition) and it worked. didn't note anything special. So, I went back to regular HDA FF00 drivers.

 

The main issue is determining when to use a specific FFxx and or/UAD when you have a blank PC (new HD, fried HD, etc), and it requires a fresh/clean install of windows. And since I find myself installing windows very often, I would wanna have some way to determine which one I need , not just guesswork...

that all depends on the hardware tech specs for the laptops & motherboards (run tools such as MSInfo32.exe, HWInfo or Speccy to gather specs, especially the CPU, the system chipset & motherboard model)

as I said before -

-use Realtek UAD drivers for Realtek audio devices on Intel Kaby Lake (7th gen Intel core), AMD Ryzen or newer CPUs [aka. Intel Coffee Lake - 8th gen or higher]
-use Realtek HDA FFxx (non-UAD, non-DCH) drivers for Realtek audio devices on Intel Sky Lake (6th gen Intel core), AMD pre-Ryzen or earlier CPUs [aka. Intel Broadwell - 5th gen or older]

there is no "perfect" or "ideal" way to determine which FFxx or UAD Realtek audio driver to use - it all depends on what hardware (esp. CPUs) is used.  so you need to check what kind of CPU(s) a motherboard or laptop can use and what "chipset" it uses

there are no "official" generic UAD drivers if you use the Realtek Audio Console app from the MS store.  Acer based Realtek UAD drivers have specific Acer based INF files.
HDA (non-UAD) FFxx drivers can be generic (meaning the drivers include the "generic" HDXRT.inf & HDXSST.inf files) but do not come with Realtek Audio Console and come with Realtek HD Audio Manager instead.

what is the model # of your Acer laptop, KaoDome?  use either HWInfo or Speccy to gather specs of your Acer laptop pc so I can determine what kind of Realtek audio driver (most likely a UAD version and not an HDA FFxx version) it needs.

btw, HWID "INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_10251345" is listed in the HDXSSTACERNB.inf file of a UAD/DCH driver.

It is an Acer A515-54G, the current audio driver I'm using is the one provided by Acer (v6.0.8699.1), I think it is UAD because I have that Realtek Audio Console, but no other DSP appears to be installed. I was wondering if there was something newer that could fix a problem I'm having with latency (it takes a while for sound to appear once it's been a while since anything played).

I'm not sure if these UAD Acer drivers will solve your latency problems but here are the newer drivers from Acer that include the HDXSSTACERNB.inf file for ID "INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_10251345":

v6.0.8931.1 (listed for EN714-51W)

v6.0.8904.1 (listed for A715-75G)

uninstall the 8699 UAD driver either from Add/Remove Programs control panel (appwiz.cpl) or by using DriverStore Explorer (RAPR), removing all Realtek "extensions"  and "software components" as well as the main Realtek audio driver from the HDXSSTACERNB.inf file, reboot and then install either 8904 or 8931 and reboot again.

If the updated drivers work, keep them.  If they don't solve your problem, mention the problem in the Acer community forums and see if somebody there will help out.
