wook
is it DDR2 or DDR3 ram in the 8600GT? DDR2 will be stopping the high scores. oveclocking will only upgrade the score about 1000 points. you should be able to hit about 5500 depending on your CPU and FSB. Does seem pretty low. Guest ODST05
So does the 8600M GT with 256mb have DDR2 and the 512mb version have DDR3 or the other way round?
Guest Guest
I have a 256MB 8600M-GT with DDR3 Its clocked at 700MHz I know that the 256 can be 2 or 3 I would guess that the same would be true for

Twisteds7
What are the test result comparisons between 3dmark05 and 3dmark06? Also I will be testing on a new mobo stock and minor OC GPU soon.
Twisteds7
With a 550/813 OC 177.92 driver and a peak temp of 79, average 69, I got 4803. Not bad for a modest OC. Here are some harder OCs. I'm pleased with the results. 665/865 = 5529 665/925 = 5642 I used 3dmark06 for all Edited August 31, 2008 by Twisteds7

Guest RaZR
Hey guys. I (also..) have an acer 5920 T7500 2.2 GHz 4MB cache 4 GB DDR2 Vista ultimate X64 Geforce 8600m GT I am currently using forceware 177.89. You are all talking about overclocking, why dont you just try to play with rivatuner?! A tip to all 8600M GT users!! do this, follow me! Go to rivatunter - click on customize button after the text 128 bit G84 with 512 DDR2, -then press the first button ''low level system tweaks. -at the bottom, click install. -in the PCI Device ID settings area, with graphics adapter identification, -select custom, then click down till you see 0040 Nvidia geforce 8600 GT - select use ROM straps for PCI deviceID programming. -then press Ok, rivatuner prompts you to restart, when you restart, it might me that u have to reinstall the nvidia driver, use this one http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....showtopic=20122, download the driver AND the modded .inf -place this modded inf in the geforce driver install folder, then install. When you restart, you have a geforce 8600 GTS!!!! GENIOUS. my score went up like hell, standard i have 3100 Points in 3dmark06, now i have @stock speeds: 3900 3dmark06 points!!!!!! you aint a overclocker when you didnt applied this patch, please do it, it boostes your frame rate in games like 15-20% i can play crysis only shaders mid, and shadows off, rest very high, with 25 fps!! aint beliving me? see the screens: http://rapidshare.com/files/142922447/8600_GTS.rar.html unrar with winrar. the screens also tell you how to apply the mod, with this mod, you DONT overclock your laptop, it only handles the driver better. you can mail me for questions: michiel_van_delft@hotmail.com
